Job Description

Lead Architect

Duration: 6-9 months

Location: Lincolnshire

W-2 candidates only

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is a team lead role within the Technology Management team, working closely with all IT verticals to architect, deploy and support network and security infrastructures. Deliverables will include multi-platform design and operational excellence activities with the following technologies: Cisco routing / switching / WLAN / ACE / VOIP, Nokia/Checkpoint Firewall, ProofPoint, Nagios, Splunk, BlueCoat Internet Proxy. The individual will be required to perform after hours support.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ü Broad experience supporting IT application and infrastructure, with heavy emphasis on:

o Project planning, design and technical integration activities

o Network capacity planning

o Workload automation quality assurance / operational sustainability

o Common network services and monitoring tools

o Private data line provisioning and management

ü Must be a self-starter demonstrating the willingness to address / resolve ambiguity and conflict within complex business change projects.

ü Effectively support a wide range of issues, including secure architectures, secure electronic data traffic, network security and privacy to meet customer and business needs.

ü Contribute to a project roadmap for the Network and Security vertical in support of business change projects

ü Enforce conformance to network and security standards prior to production implementation

ü Conduct network capacity planning & analytical modeling studies to identify capacity shortages / overages

ü Construct and execute test plans to verify correct operation of completed systems

ü Prepare required documents in accordance with standards throughout the integration process

ü Audit network and security infrastructure implementations to ensure design & configuration specifications have been implemented to according to plan

ü Coordinate all level 3 network and security changes with appropriate teams to ensure uninterrupted service

ü Promote and follow prescribed project management guidelines for Pactiv projects

ü Acknowledge and resolve user and system-generated production issues (Remedy Incidents) for assigned applications within established SLOs

ü Diagnose, identify root cause, and resolve the most unique and complex network and security (level 3) problems

ü Maintain documentation for all operational / support processes for the systems supported by the Network and Security team; automate repetitive processes where appropriate

ü Evaluate and recommend new network and security infrastructure solutions, strategies and architectures based upon business partner and internal requirements.

ü Guide successful completion of network security for major programs and may function in a project leadership role

ü Stay current with new technologies and techniques as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

ü Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent experience.

ü CCNP technical certification is highly desired; candidates with commensurate experience will be considered

ü 8-10 years hands-on experience with a broad range of enterprise-class technology solutions.

ü Strong understanding of RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP routing protocols

ü Working experience with TCP/IP, MPLS, ATM and Ethernet

ü UNIX / Linux / VMware experience desired, with programming experience in Perl required

Demonstrated, strong understanding of IT architecture / engineering, system sustainability, system development lifecycle and structured analytical / diagnostic skills.

ü Deep, extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco technologies; this is our primary directory services and desktop management platform for the enterprise.

ü Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; near-term objective will be to drive quantifiable improvement in effective use of our technical assets. The right person for this job has to be able to lead (pull) and drive (push) the organization to make this happen.

ü Self-directing individual demonstrating teamwork, organization skills and well structured working approach given multiple priorities.

ü 4 years of project experience as team member or lead

ü Experience working with cross-functional teams
